Same results as Tom: I can get a unified diff for a project out of the 
command-line "cvs diff" command, just not from Eclipse.

As an additional data point, you don't even need to modify the Eclipse 
project for this issue to come up; if you try and create a patch from 
the top of an unmodified project I get the same error.

If you go deep enough into the project's folder tree to create the 
patch, the error goes away at some point.

Obviously, Eclipse is doing something over and above what the command 
line tools are doing; I'll try and figure out what when I get some time.
