I've published new drafts to the main web site for review. Thanks to Tom
Scavo for many suggestions, omissions, and indented examples.
Aside from corrections and a little bit of profile refactoring, the primary
change is that most of the metadata work is now happening in the SSTC,
because there was interest in voting in a committee draft profile of
metadata for SAML 1.x.
So most of my original profile is in that submission, and this document
refers to that working draft, and specifies only additional rules required
for Shibboleth. Things will probably be a little messy there until the 2.0
schema (which is undergoing some final bug fixes) and the 1.x profile fully
stablize in a few weeks, but the end result will be better since it will be
a cross-vendor profile.
I think it's our expectation that the phrase "Shibboleth-Compliant" or
"Shibboleth-Compatible" be based on these two documents, chiefly the
conformance draft. However implementations supporting only specific profiles
(i.e. only POST, only artifact, no attribute query, etc.) can claim
conformance with individual profiles.
