I've used a similar, older library (http://www.ashleyit.com/rs/main.htm)
that I've customized for passing strings back and forth that I turn into
data objects using Cold Fusion's old wddx technology (this was several years
ago) and it works quite well. Amazingly reliable, and it works on most every
browser.
As Tom notes, it's best at manipulating form elements, creating list boxes,
etc. Raw text is definitely trickier.
