Hi Bob:

I'll run the license agreement you forwarded by my community
representatives for a quick review. If it's an open source license that
promotes re-use of your software and makes the source easily available
to others without severe restrictions, then we are at heart in support
of this. I don't ecpect any problems from our side but will let you
know shortly if there are.

Thanks for supporting MySQL and open source in general,

Joe

The Internet2 Shibboleth project (http://shibboleth.internet2.edu/)
intends to include calls to the Embedded MySQL server (libmysqld) in
our Shibboleth software package. The license for the Shibboleth
package (http://shibboleth.internet2.edu/license.html) is
essentially
the Apache license. We believe it is an OSI-compatible license. We
understand from your license page
(http://www.mysql.com/products/licensing.html) that we are permitted
to distribute the Shibboleth package, including these calls to
libmysqld, without a commercial license from you, and also without
being required to release our code under the GPL.

We'd appreciate your confirmation of this assessment. I'd be happy
to provide any other info you require about our proposed use.
