The "beta" tarballs for the next distribution of Shibboleth, which is
alpha 2.5, are now posted here:

        http://shib1.internet2.edu:8000/shib/

A source tarball is also provided for the truly bored.

Anyone close to the project is welcome to download and test things out,
particularly sites that were playing with alpha 2. Note that 2 and 2.5
do not interoperate due to a security-related fix.

A short list of changes:
- XML/Java library updates
- fixes to digital signing (speed and security fixes)
- totally rebuilt SHIRE with better error reporting (thanks to Walter)
- revamped HS/SHIRE interaction to deal with those pesky users
- more logging via log4j for origin and target Java code
- inclusion in shib/bin/ of an early ARP command line tool and an AA
tester

Updating from 2 to 2.5 can be accomplished by unpacking on top of the
old tree, copying the new war file over to tomcat, saving off your
web.xml and keystore.jks files, clearing out the shibboleth/ webapp,
restarting Tomcat, restoring the web.xml and keystore.jks files, and
touch'ing the web.xml file to reinit the servlets.

We'll be going wider with these files shortly, for now keep it in the
"family".
