ESnet (Energy Sciences Network) is proud to announce the first beta
release of iperf-3.16.

This version of software, to be released soon as iperf-3.16, uses a
multi-threaded implementation that uses a separate thread (pthread)
for each test stream. As the streams run more-or-less independently,
this should remove some of the performance bottlenecks, and allow
iperf3 to perform higher-speed tests, particularly on 100+Gbps
paths. This version has recorded transfers as high as 148Gbps in
internal testing at ESnet.

This release also includes a few other minor changes for OpenSSL
support. More information on those changes can be found in the
iperf-3.16-beta1 release notes, which are contained in the RELNOTES.md
file in the distribution.

iperf 3.16-beta1 should be fully backward-compatible with prior iperf3
releases, that is, iperf 3.16-beta1 clients and servers should
interoperate correctly with all 3.x clients and servers.
