Hi Phil,

This only affects MaDDash’s on EL9. I ran into this while testing 5.0.5 packages and created an issue on it earlier this week: https://github.com/perfsonar/nagios/issues/22

Per the issue, there are two things in the nagios package that need fixing. One is just a difference in package naming between the OSes and is an easy fix in the spec. For the other it looks like we have to build perl(Nagios::Plugin) and any dependencies on our own for EL9. Didn’t want to block 5.0.5 on that, but will probably do a 5.0.5-2 of just those packages on EL9. Likely won’t be today but hopefully won’t leave you waiting too long.

Thanks,
Andy

Hi,

I had these issues with 5.0.4 and hoped they'd go away in 5.0.5 but they remain:

Error:
 Problem: package maddash-5.0.5-1.el9.noarch requires nagios-plugins-perfsonar, but none of the providers can be installed
  - cannot install the best candidate for the job
  - nothing provides perl(Nagios::Plugin) needed by nagios-plugins-perfsonar-5.0.5-1.el9.x86_64
  - nothing provides python3-pscheduler needed by nagios-plugins-perfsonar-5.0.5-1.el9.x86_64
(try to add '--skip-broken' to skip uninstallable packages or '--nobest' to use not only best candidate packages)

I wanted to go into production with a more uptodate OS version than Centos7, thus my focus on Rocky or Alma 9.

With my test rig I can confirm MaDDash installs well on Centos7, Rocky8, Alma8 and Debian10 (but not 11, interesting that is gives a similar error as above).

Hope a quick fix would be possible.
Phil
