Ivan,

I didn't think to reply to the list, but I did in fact get a reply from one of the developers, and it was effectively the same as what you've described.  So should anyone else have a need, this is the fix that worked for me.

Thanks for your help Ivan.

Hello Casey,

Sorry for the delay here.

I got quite interested in your inquiry. I have no idea, if you have found the solution yourself.

In order to “nuke” the Esmond DB, but at the same time keep the authentication tokens I had to do the following:

-          Stop cassandra service

-          Remove the folder of /var/lib/cassandra/data/esmond

-          Recreate it with cassandra:cassandra permissions

-          Start the cassandra service

That worked for me on CentOS 6.9, Esmond: 2.1.2.2-1.el6

Subject: [perfsonar-user] Deleting and recreating a local archive (esmond)

A couple of us (maybe a few)  have posted in the last several months with problems where we've had a local archive grow beyond the space allowed on the local disk/volume.  Sometimes it's because of compaction issues, sometimes we just planned space poorly.  I've seen a script for selectively cleaning out just very specific entries from the esmond database.

Has anyone worked out a procedure for just nuking the local esmond database information (*ideally just testing info, not the ip authorization / password information) and starting over with an empty database?

Sincerely,

Casey Russell
