I did a few quick standalone tests using the same iperf command line and
wasn’t able to duplicate the problem, so it’s probably not something easy or
obvious.

ABRT can be configured to collect a core dump when a program dies;
information on how to do that is at
https://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/ABRT. If you can get a backtrace, that
information can be passed along to the iperf developers (not us, and not
ESNet, which maintains iperf3).
