Hi,

Does the VM have only a private address? That may explain the registration error as the LS registration daemon will not register private addresses by default.  

Is the VM a CentOS host? That may explain the lack of auto-update as someone else reported a similar issue. We will have an rpm to correct this soon, but you need to set “apply_updates = yes” in /etc/yum/yum-cron.conf (it seems to default to “no”).

Finally, does the host firewall show anything that might explain the lack of reverse tests (iptables —list)? It shouldn’t have been touched on update but is the most obvious cause. If not is this at a public URL i can check? or can I see /var/log/pscheduler/pscheduler.log and /var/log/perfsonar/meshconfig-agent.log?

There is an ACL filtering the traffic. All outgoing connections are allowed and incoming established connections are allowed to come back.

For that particular perfsonar server there are ACEs:

 

access-list 102 remark planchet specific rules

access-list 102 permit tcp any host 193.1.219.101 eq 443

access-list 102 permit tcp any host 193.1.219.101 eq 861

access-list 102 permit tcp any host 193.1.219.101 gt 1024

access-list 102 permit udp any host 193.1.219.101 gt 1024

 

2.       Physical device was updated automatically at the weekend to the version 4 but the VM didn’t and I had to update it manually.

After the update it stopped measuring reverse throughput as in the screen shot:

 

I have the same target on a physical box and VM (as a test) and it shows all direct and reverse data. I restarted the VM  but it didn’t help.

 

Could you help me to troubleshoot the issues with perfsonar running on a VM please?
