I'm not in a place where I can write a full reply, but yes, it is possible to define the esmond destinations from the command line as well as any of the other the other archiving methods we support.

You can also define the entire task using JSON, and the CLI has some tools to help you do that.

I'll send you a couple of examples when I get to a computer.  We are working up some training materials that we hope to get out between RC3 and the general release.
