Dear Ahmad,

If you want to try the current Release Candidate, the second one, you should follow the instructions at http://docs.perfsonar.net/release_candidates/4.0rc2/install_rcs.html

The repository you should be using for Ubuntu 14 is the Debian 7 (Wheezy) one: http://downloads.perfsonar.net/debian/perfsonar-wheezy-4.0.list

Using this source file, the perfsonar-toolkit should install correctly.  This is still work in progress, so you may expect some little issues here and there, although most of it should work fine.

You can report further issues about the RC2 here on the list.

Thanks,

Antoine.

Dear Antoine,

Thank you so much for your response.I ran through this installation user guide at first  :

when I've tried to install perfsonar-toolkit , I got in trouble with errors :

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
perfsonar-toolkit : Depends: perfsonar-toolkit-graphs but it is not installable

Then I tried previous version with this link :

which i get those errors, again.

I have tried the installation on Ubuntu 14.

Thanks,

Hello Ahmad,

From which repository are you trying to install perfSONAR?  Which apt source file have you used?

The perfsonar-toolkit bundle is not supported on Debian/Ubuntu on our current perfSONAR 3.5.1 version.  We only provide it for CentOS-6

Our upcoming version, currently Release Candidate, will support it.

Thanks,

Antoine.

Hi Dears,
I am already working with mininet. I came up to test my project with perfsonar. I have got trobule when installing it on the same virtual machine where mininet have been installed.
I've got the following errors :

sudo apt-get install perfsonar-toolkit
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created

The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
perfsonar-toolkit : Depends: perfsonar-toolkit-graphs but it is not installable
N: Ignoring file 'perfsonar.asc' in directory '/etc/apt/sources.list.d/' as it has an invalid filename extension
N: Ignoring file 'perfsonar.asc' in directory '/etc/apt/sources.list.d/' as it has an invalid filename extension
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

and also tried to install  perfsonar-toolkit-graphs with the following errors

would you mind helping me in solving this issue? Or is there any tutorial  that I can use the perfsonar on another machine and using it against the host in another virtual machine. I am using virtual box on windows as  Virtual Machine manager.

I am really look forward to hearing your answers.

Sincerely yours

Ahmad Norouzi
