You might want to look at:

NDT finds achievable BW with a single stream. Just about everyone else in the world has the client open multiple parallel connections and reports the sum as the "good news." There is a rational for doing it that way -- modern browsers fetch a web container page and then pull in the component pieces in parallel. So parallel testing reproduces the way that desktop clients use the network. Ookla is not alone in parallel testing. Lots of their peer speed test sites do it that way. So does the FCC and the California version of the speed test.

I expect that a parallel test will give higher results than a single stream test in a loss limited network. But I haven't spent a lot of time thinking about how to convert Ookla to NDT. As noted, the tests are different. If you are attempting to tune your network to get the best performance possible, keeping it simple will probably pay you a dividend. In that case, you'd probably favor a single stream test.

Subject: NDT Web Client VS OOKLA Speed Issues!

Dear Support,

We have Installed Perfsonar CENTOS  10G link in our premises and running test against from difrrent devices and browsers

  •  NDT in Mobile Device Browsers Vs OOKLA Speedtest APP

OOKLA Speed measurements are very high in IOS Devices compare to NDT client test results

Is there any work around to match with OOKLA using NDT Client browser

or give us recommandation to build app using same backend

  • NDT ,OOKLA in PC browsers

NDT measurements are inconsistent suddenly drops to lower and back again

OOKLA values higher and consistent

Is there any way OOKLA and NDT results are comparable

Regrds,

Sultan
