A leap second will be inserted into CUT immediately following:
23:59:59 CUT (GMT,UCT) June 30, 2015
19:59:59 EDT June 30, 2015
18:59:59 CDT June 30, 2015
17:59:59 MDT June 30, 2015
16:59:59 MST June 30, 2015
16:59:59 PDT June 30, 2015
13:59:59 HST June 30, 2015
Because Internet2 did use and recommend EndRun Praecis CDMA time
standards to discipline NTP service relative to perfSONAR for several
years, I forward the following the included-below EndRun email bulletin.
Note -- although the pending insertion of the a Leap Second into
Coordinated Universal Time (aka CUT, GMT, UCT) will have possible
temporary effects on any host using NTP time, it is critical to make
sure that your CDMA or GPS-disciplined NTP servers are configured to
assimilate the Leap Second. Some devices may automatically
self-configure for the Leap Second. EndRun Technologies Praecis Ct and
Praecis II do not.
If you have radio disciplined NTP service (WWV, WWVH, WWVB, CHU et al),
you do not need to do anything.
Also note -- if you have EndRun Technologies devices and don't have
docs, the manual at:
Praecis II - http://www.endruntechnologies.com/pdf/USM3002-0000-000.pdf
Should be useful for getting a terminal connected and setting LEAP for
both Praecis Ct and Praecis II.
To use a terminal program like Minicom to interact with the Praecis
radio from a connected *nix NTP server and configure the leap second,
refer to:
https://net.its.hawaii.edu/network-performance/using-praecis/#40.Appendix%20A:%20Minicom%20%28serial%20terminal%20program%29|outline
It's probably best to stop NTP while you're talking to the Praecis.
====================
Synopsis: connect a serial terminal to Praecis (II or Ct) and once you
get the baud/bits/stop/handshake correct --
if time is before 23:59:59 GMT 30 June 2015
enter command "LEAP=15,16"
OR
if time is after 00:00:00 GMT 1 July 2015
enter command "LEAP=16,16"
(I offer no help for those aiming to do the adjustment during the leap
second itself). :^P

This is an important Service Bulletin about your CDMA-Synchronized
equipment from EndRun Technologies. You are listed in our database as
owning a Praecis product. Please forward this message to the person
responsible for operation of this device. Thank you.
>>> YOU MUST TAKE ACTION OR YOUR CLOCK MAY BE OFF BY 1 SECOND AFTER
JUNE 30, 2015.
There is a new leap second insertion scheduled for UTC midnight on June
30, 2015. (Leap second insertions happen about every 3 years.) A leap
second is an extra second inserted into UTC time to keep it in alignment
with the earth's rotation. If your Praecis uses UTC or Local time, then
it may be off by 1 second after June 30. To prevent that from
happening, please read the Leap Seconds Bulletin for instructions:
http://www.endruntechnologies.com/pdf/LSB150106.pdf
If you are interested, see detailed information on leap seconds here:
