Hi Brian,

To clarify, the directionality on the charts depends on the URL passed to graphWidget.cgi. If you're
accessing the charts through the table listing all the tests, the definition of "source"
and "destination" is very loose. There is no awareness here of which address(es) involve
the local host, so which gets set to source and which is destination may not match your expectations.
So if you look at that URL, you can swap source=value1&dest=value2 so you can determine which is
which.

There is a ticket open in our tracker here -- feel free to add comments if
the ticket is missing anything.

Question: is it normal for "ping" tests to send in only one direction, i.e. outbound from the perfsonar box?

This seems reasonable, but it's not clear in the documentation. What's particularly confusing is that the sample graph at

http://docs.perfsonar.net/using_graphs.html

has legends for both "ping" and "reverse ping", suggesting that ping is checked in both directions (using bwping?) - although the same graph doesn't actually show any ping data.

What I'm actually seeing is pings only sent in one direction (from perfsonar to remote host and back again). And these tests are shown in the legend as "reverse ping" - there is no "ping" legend.

Is this correct?

Thanks,

Brian Candler.
