I ended up destroying it and switching to the netinstall version 
instead, but this is the result from another CentOS 6 VM I have:

# ls -l /dev/vd*
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 253, 0 Jun  6 16:48 /dev/vda
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 253, 1 Jun  6 16:48 /dev/vda1
