As for the nitty gritty of where the measurements are being run, I see that as a bit of a rabbit hole.
My personal suggestion would be to avoid the idea of trying to map the specfic routes (unless you do something like this)

where you show the paths. To then link those paths to physical locations would be a massive task. (I think).
The graphic I was creating was just a relative chart that shows "Us" and "Them" with very round distances thrown in.
I would like to suggest that it might be interesting if (when there's nothing else to do.) ((yes, a joke)) to see something like openstreetmap incorporated so that dynamic content could be created.
There's also other ways of graphic representations that might increase the obviousness of the data.
