Hi Loren;
I am going to cross post this answer to performance-node-users. The list is more geared toward the performance toolkit, and is located here if you are interested in joining:

Hello,
I got perfsonar up and running. Woo!
Two weird minor issues right now:
1. All the "popular communities" windows say "The list of popular
communities may be out of date. Ensure that the caching program is
correctly running." I checked crontabs on the host, but they're empty.
How do I debug this?
How soon after bringing up the node did you configure? The cache runs once an hour so it may not have kicked off yet. If by the time you are reading this it still hasn't run, try to manually start it (it may take a minute or two to finish and there will be some output produced):
sudo /usr/local/bin/cache.pl --verbose
Also, the cron entry should be here for reference:
/etc/cron.d/gls_cache
If that is not there there may be an installation problem.
2. The webpages run really slowly, and it takes over a minute to get
the password prompt when sshing into the box. Is that normal? The box
is an IBM x3655.
Whats the load on the box look like? The web stuff is pretty simple html so it *shouldn't* take a long time, but perhaps something else is hogging the system.
Thanks;
