Hi Christian,

This is some very strange behavior you have there :s I take it there 
could be a couple of seconds difference between starting eXist and the 
MP, but 15 minutes is a long time...

Did you use the tomcat provided by perfsonar (rpm or deb)?

If you could send me the logs for tomcat, it might be more clear to me. 
The files are normally catalina.out, or jsvc.err and jsvc.log.
