Hi Lukasz,
thank you for this information. I can remember that we had agread
in a conf call that all perfsonar services are installed in /usr/lib/perfsonar/services/
and all services have as owner perfsonar. But I dont know why
perfsonar-oppd change the owner of all services because it only
create /usr/lib/perfsonar/services/oppd and makes changes on this
directorie. I will look on this and the changes will come in
version 0.53. This package will be availible in september.
Best regards,
Hakan

Hi Lukasz,
I'm amazed
that perfsonar-oppd makes changes in other directories. Which
version of perfonar-oppd-mp-bwctl is used. You can see it in
the package name. Thanks for your help.
Best regards,
Hakan

------ Wiadomość oryginalna ------
Hi all,
Following the bug reported by Paul Gray and the discussion we had
(attached) I made some tests of the Debian PS DVD installation. And ...
I noticed that when the BWCTL MP software is installed (from the DVD) on
one machine with other Java based services (LS, AS, RRD MA, SQL MA) the
owner of files in the /var/lib/tomcat5.5/webapps/<java service
name>/WEB-INF/classes/perfsonar/conf/ directories is changed to
"perfsonar perfsonar". This in fact caused the bug reported by the user.
I do not make any additional configuration operations when installing
the perfsonar-oppd-mp-bwctl service.
I didn't experience that on CentOS installation.
Do we consider this behaviour as a bug or something to be improved? Or
should I just add some appropriate instructions to the automatic
installation script to change the owner of those files back to "tomcat55
root"?
Best regards,
Lukasz

One suggestion would be to add the tomcat user to the perfsonar unix group and make the properties files writable by that group. That way changes made through the web interface to these files should be possible.
