One purpose is that we already use urls as even types, for example in MA url event types tell service which metrics it should choose to fetch or store data. So the background for url idea is that we should have full harmony. However mentioned example of event type refers to nmwg schema and we must introduce some new well done response schema. So since some of requests are already urls why to use something different?

Thanks for your answer Michael, I indeed overlooked the usage of the protocol on some other transport layer.
One last thing I'd like to understand however. Why the move from dotted notation to URL notation for event types in the first place? And why not use URN or some other naming scheme? Doesn't it add even more confusion when such URL is used for transport, to refer to name space and then now to even something different? Or is there some background I'm missing?
