I had a quick look at your script:

It's probably a good idea to give a meaningful name to this script, so that 
anyone can easily know what is the intended usage.  I would think something like 
'changelog-update.sh'.

Maybe it's also better to move it to the 'packaging' directory as it's usage is 
directly related to the package generation.
