For both questions I can say that for MDM 3.0 we were using custom  
packages, even for Tomcat6, but for this new version we're trying to  
be more close to the specifications of the distributions. And this  
means that we have to use Tomcat 5.5 and we're not just upgrading some  
files: we have new packages with different names, version packages,  
etc. That's the reason we suggest to uninstall previous and to install  
the new one. The thing is for MDM 3.2 you'll just do an upgrade :-)
