What's the current situation:

Redhat other unix Debian
rrd ma tomcat ?? geant2-tomcat5.5
sql ma tomcat ?? tomcat5.5
ls tomcat ?? tomcat5.5

ttssh MP tomcat ?? tomcat5.5

1) Must: For sure we can't stay with a different name for the rrd ma
under debian. People won't user it sufficiently often to remember it.
There must be a single name. What should it be Roman

I don't think geant2-tomcat5.5 script is a problem if the installation guide instructs clearly to use it.
If you don't like it you can create a symlink with the name you prefer.

btw. Tomcat (v5.5) start script on RedHat is tomcat5

[root@virt-rhel5
init.d]# rpm -qf /etc/init.d/tomcat5
tomcat5-5.5.23-0jpp.7.el5

[root@virt-rhel5
init.d]# ls /etc/init.d/tomcat
ls: /etc/init.d/tomcat: No such file or directory

2) Assuming that we have a name, can we use something like tomcat(user
type to get an auto-completion).
2.a) Would it work?
2.b) Would it be satisfactory for the support?

Hi,

I used the default. One thing I want to avoid is to have different
commands according O.S. Support becomes a mess if this happens. :-D

Hi,

I used:

/etc/init.d/tomcat restart
Fausto,

we decided to use default package of Tomcat 5.5 in Red Hat and Debian.
So you should have been using /etc/init.d/tomcat5 (which is installed
by that package)

[root@virt-rhel5
init.d]# rpm -qf /etc/init.d/tomcat5
tomcat5-5.5.23-0jpp.7.el5

What tomcat installation did you use?

Hi Roman and Fasuto,

Now Tomcat is restarted using the following commands:
To restart Tomcat use the command: /etc/init.d/tomcat5.5 restart

Whilst previously is was
To restart Tomcat use the command: /etc/init.d/tomcat restart

1) Is it correct?
2) Is it for .deb and .rpm?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Cheers,
