I don't think geant2-tomcat5.5 script is a problem if the installation 
guide instructs clearly to use it.
If you don't like it you can create a symlink with the name you prefer.

btw. Tomcat (v5.5) start script on RedHat is tomcat5

[root@virt-rhel5
 init.d]# rpm -qf /etc/init.d/tomcat5
tomcat5-5.5.23-0jpp.7.el5

[root@virt-rhel5
 init.d]# ls /etc/init.d/tomcat
ls: /etc/init.d/tomcat: No such file or directory
