Yes, I will add these guidelines to perfsonar-MDM build guide ASAP.

I am responsible for this omission. This bug has been fixed and the 
sources have been committed to svn.

Certainly. However, the first two steps cannot be eliminated as each 
service must specify its own XML request/response files ...
