Joe commented previously about including URNs in the schema so that we can tie data in MAs more easily to the topology elements in a TS.
URN background:
Currently, each element has a global identifier of some kind. For example, layer3 Interfaces have IP addresses and E2EMon links have a global name. However, each new style of global identifier requires some added code in the LS to handle summarization. URNs offer a standard way to uniquely describe these resources without having each type of element or each project defining its own style of identifier.
Going through the existing subject schemas, I've come up with a (hopefully) minimal set of changes that would allow URNs to be included in the subject metadata. The page below describes the URN scheme and the changes needed to support including them.

If you have questions or comments, let me know. If there are no concerns, I'd like to add these to the topo v2.0/v3.0 schemas around June 15th.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Aaron
