Hi Andreas,
I have the following spread comments on your document ( version 0.6 of May 14) :
1. Motivate a bit more the background and underlying perspective for this doc/proposal : what's the main reason to introduce this new "finding related MPs/MAs functionality" ?
You have sketched it a bit - stating that this is to understand if current MA/MP can be of help - but one should describe the scale of the proposed solution, I think. Quantify a bit more .....I discussed a bit with colleagues and I realized it's a bit unclear the underlying philosophy :
Suppose we want to investigate a file transfer between a PC situated at the fourth floor of the University of Hanover and a PC at the third floor in the University of Perugia. ( supposing we have a well-defined IP path).
How many domains do we currently cross ? How many hops ? Among these domains and hops, how many are currently supposed to be included within the gathered information by pS, in its current deployment status ?
The issue I mean is : I thought this functionality somehow relates to scalability, and to increase the fine graining of the perfSONAR monitoring, possibly introducing more MPs and more MAs in the involved path
investigation...possibly trying to embed the domain endpoints in the game ( like adding an MP/MA inside the Hanover university, one in Perugia....,
and not only on the backbone of our nets) - do you also share this view or not ?
Nn both cases, may be some comments on this line could be added - specifying the context and the scale for this functionality....quantifying which fraction of the hops are currently monitored in an average
e-Science e2e path within Europe.......(supposing this can be defined)
2. In the work flow proposal section , at some stage you mention "LS to check for interesting locations along the path" : what is considered interesting here may be could be better described. a bit more into detail ?
I also have many general remarks on the syntax/phrasing/form of the text, can I send it to you separately ?
Talk to you in the phone in a while
ciao
Mario
