Hello everyone,

I've been away for a while but I'm back. Hi. I have some questions that somebody maybe can answer.

I see that some things changed, one of them is that everyone is releasing RPM files. This makes me very happy, and I want to do the same for our services.

I think I missed some mailinglist discussions and I can't find much info in the Wiki. I found a script that creates deb and files:

https://svn.internet2.edu/svn/perfsonar/branches/rpm/package_maker.pl

Question> Does everyone uses this script to generate their RPM files?

I noticed that the RPM&Deb builder builds packages that install to /home/perfsonar and /home/perfsonar/tomcat-perfsonar.

Question> I think this question has been asked before, but I still think it is very important. Do we still provide our own tomcat installation? If we build an RPM, why not depend on the tomcat of the distribution. This is making live so much easier, for developers and maintainers.

In the minutes of

http://wiki.perfsonar.net/jra1-wiki/index.php/MDM_perfSONAR_3.0_Conf_call_08_Jan_2008

there is a common action note that developers should read the build guide with a note about RPM.

Question> Where can I find this? It is not in the Wiki, or I can't find it. Search function in wiki is close to worthless.

Thanks for your time,

- gijs
