Hi all,

this afternoon (CEST ;-) ) I will update our Hades production system to a new 
version. There were some bugs and feature requests related to time, date, and 
time zone issues. To get things done a lot of internal rework was necessary. 
I migrated to a completely different Perl module for date/time support. 
Nevertheless, you won't see a lot of changes. Changes were mostly internal. 
You might realize that the date format is now more "international", e.g. 
normally YYYY-MM-DD is used instead of DD.MM.YYYY. In some places you should 
even find localised date and time strings.

Let me draw your attention to one really important change, you should be 
aware 
of: All times are UTC now! This has several reasons:
- Date/time calculation is much faster this way. Internally we even use Epoch 
seconds now to speed up things a little bit.
- Plotting becomes a lot easier, because UTC is not "jumping around" like 
e.g. 
CET/CEST.
- We are thinking about flexible time zone selection for our visualisation. 
But there a lot of problems related to this...

There are smaller changes in the visualisation:
- Traceroute labels are now clickable. You can open a window showing the 
traceroute "log".
- Plotting symbol selection is now far more intuitive.
- Minor changes on layout and text.

Sorry, that this is not the long awaited finalisation of our new 
visualisation. We need more time for this ;-)

Since this is an internal rework there might be some new bugs in the system. 
E.g. the perfSONAR services should not be affected since they only use Epoch 
seconds for now, but who knows... So please keep an eye on it and report 
strange behaviour to
