Hi,

In my opinion that's not a good thing, because:

  1) perfSONAR services are "simple" cooperating services.

  2) LS is XQuery based because XML DB is used

I am against combining many protocols and functionalities in one 
super-service unless it's modular and there is a specific need for that.
We have discussed it several times and always the conclusion was the same.

In "proxy" solution if one wants to add new "query" mapping he just do 
it without modifying LS which is probably operational service. It's more 
flexible. I don't think the loss of performance is significant.
