I don't know if I understand you correctly. I don't see the problem in  
duplication you mentioned. In my proposal I treat each service as a 
separate application (I don't care if they have the same set of 
libraries). The envelope script downloads tar files of services, 
unpackes them and starts installation procedures. So the bundle is just 
a script with a list of certain services (certain versions).
