Nicolas,
I would like to add discussion of the questions that were raised at the L2 Status workshop in Toronto including:

perfSONAR Extension Process
How do we review extensions by non-core
developers before allowing them to use the
perfSONAR name. Do we want to have any
standards or process, or can anybody use
the perfSONAR name?

Relationship of the L2 Status tool with the perfSONAR core.

What does it mean when you say "L2 Status tool"? Is this a tool developed somewhere in US?

I believe that the L2 status tools mentioned by Joe are:
- the L2 status MA (based on the RDB MA) and which contains L2 information. It is based on a SQL database that the NRENs populate with the L2 status information they extract and aggregate to fit with the JRA4 data model.
- the L2 status MP developed in perl by DFN LRZ within JRA4 (Matthias and Mark are Cc-ed). It is based on a XML file that the NRENs populate with their L2 status data they extract and aggregate to fit with the JRA4 data model.

For more information, please refer to :
http://wiki.geant2.net/bin/view/JRA4/E2EMonSoft and in particular the document: http://wiki.geant2.net/bin/view/JRA4/DmsDocE2EMonDeploymentGuide
To access the visualisation: http://cnmdev.lrz-muenchen.de/e2e/html/G2_E2E_index.html

Those two perfSONAR (compliant) web-services are used by a visualisation tool developped by LZR to display the L2 link status. (currently it shows only the last 5 min status).

This raise, amongst other, the following questions:
- what is the support model for the JRA4 SW?
- would it be released within the pS core?

Cheers,
Nicolas

Regards,
