I'm very sorry I could not dedicate time for you.

today, because it is friday i will end up at work at 15:00 CEST

let me put on paper what you need to compile and test the 
topology service. You need jdk 1.5, tomcat, axis and ant. I think 
that we are both using Debian sarge, I can tell that I didn't 
have any problem with that: I just installed all required packages
in my $HOME/opt directory.
 
required perfsonar packages:

        - jdk 1.5
        - tomcat
        - axis
        - ant

there are some quick links in the perfsonar link, but please use
jdk 1.5 instead of the mentioned 1.4

required tops service, basically postgres and postgresql jdbc driver, but
see the detailed list of packages I use. Note php4-pgsql which is very fun
to browse the database.
