I need them for MA. If you use xmlrpc for connecting xmldb to fetch 
metadata both properties will have the same value. But if you use http 
type of connecting to xmldb then they will have different values (see 
http://monstera.man.poznan.pl/jra1-wiki/index.php/Installation_MA#XML_database_.28eXist.29_as_a_storage_for_rrd_configuration_file).
MA needs component.ma.xmldb.db_uri.xmlrpc for Ant targets which setup 
the collection in xmldb (xmlrpc is required then).

I know it could be confusing but for now I keep it. I hope to replace it 
with something better in future.

yes, this is true for RRD MA. SQL MA can read only from xmldb.
