One of the new additions to the just-released perfSONAR 4.2 is the ability to configure the limit system so some tasks are prioritized over others.  The original use case for this feature was to make ad-hoc measurements run from the command line of the local host run without having to wait in line behind other measurements.  There are others, such as giving priority to hosts on your mesh while still allowing ad-hoc use and deprioritizing measurements that are useful but not considered critical.

 

Please join the perfSONAR development team on Monday, October 7 at 2:00 p.m. EDT., please join the perfSONAR team for Know Your Limits: Priorities, an on-line tutorial session covering these topics:

• Recap of the limit system and the limit configuration file
• How priorities work
• Configuring the priority section of the limit configuration

The material in this session is geared toward administrators of perfSONAR nodes but may also be helpful for end users in understanding the diagnostic information provided when tasks are rejected or do not run.

As this tutorial is an addendum to the original Know Your Limits tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNItTorQqnw), having viewed it is a recommended prerequisite to watching this one.
