  1. Agenda Bash
  1. No bashing of the agenda was noted.
Update on peering and I2PX
  1. No significant updates.
  2. Focus has been working with peers at new Newark POP to establish PNIs.
  3. Working with Google and Amazon to increase capacity at PNIs.
  4. Goal is to wrap all of that up this month with school start.
  5. Question: Google capacity – headed to min 1x100G (total 200G) at all 7 peering locations, some locations 2x100G (total 400G).
Network Weather Update – Trends and Coming Events
  1. Uptick in traffic as semesters start.
  2. No other known trends/events.
Internet2 Network Updates
  1. No significant updates to report.
  2. Seattle Router swaps to NCS platform at the end of July.
  3. Baton Rouge is now online as a packet site.
  4. Question: any changes to community strings?  No significant changes for BGP community strings.
  5. Question: any significant update on routing policy changes that Steve W. discussed recently?  No update, but Steve is continuing to work on preparations.
  1. See I2 blog post: https://internet2.edu/internet2-introduces-new-policy-for-international-research-and-education-peering/
  2. How to better do route filters with International R&E peers.  Challenge is historically, international NRENs have provided transit when needed (not just peer/customer routes).  Same thing happens with domestic many R&E networks.
  3. See blog post for details; I2 is looking for feedback.
  4. Question/Discussion: What about provide transit but on a different AS?  One for transit and another for peering?  Issue would be that you would need cooperation from partner orgs, which could be hard to negotiate.  Discussion.  Community filtering may be a better idea.
Campus border route policy best practices
  1. No updates.
  2. Jeff Bartig has ½ day workshop in December TechX.
  1. Can this be Hybrid?  Many may not be able to attend in person as budgets are very tight.
Community peering needs and issues
  1. Dave Farmer is looking for feedback on Anycast peering policy proposal.  Leave feedback in the document:
  1. https://docs.google.com/document/d/11hjbtXJCeuaCSwBc3VFahx6rKEBZxYzO0BCd_FBceWc/edit?pli=1&tab=t.0
Any other business?
  1. Re: Hybrid events plans: DWDM tutorial has had similar requests for hybrid/remote access.  Could potentially be offered separate from TechX (simpler than hybrid), and this might work well for the BGP tutorial as well.
Adjourn at 4:39 EDT
