  1. Agenda Bash
  1. No bashing of the agenda was noted.
Update on peering and I2PX
  1. Have decommissioned 111 8th in NYC; all peers & PNIs are shut down.  Actively working with any not moved to turn up connectivity at new POP at 165 Halsey.
  1. Major accomplishment in getting NYEX peering turned up at new POP.
Continuing work with Google and Amazon to get moved off 10G PNIs.  Amazon can do 400G but Google can generally do 100G (currently short on 400G ports).  Preference is to go to 400G on all to save on XC costs. Network Weather Update – Trends and Coming Events
  1. Still quiet with summer ongoing – low traffic.
Internet2 Network Updates
  1. See above for POP decom
  2. Looking at which sites can make more redundant at optical peering layer.  No active plans, just R&D at this time.
Campus border route policy best practices
  1. Jeff got accepted for a  TechX tutorial on BGP route policy.  Look for a ½ day tutorial in afternoon.
  2. Also note another BGP tutorial being given by another group that might be of interest.
Community peering needs and issues
  1. No new issues.
Any other business?
  1. Blog post on routing security by Steve Wallace:
  1. https://internet2.edu/internet2-introduces-new-policy-for-international-research-and-education-peering/
  2. Notes that there likely should be a filter on routes accepted into R&E networks to prevent errant routes from leaking into network.
  3. Challenge is that many NRENs have produced AS-SETs – but this would only allow I2 to accept those directly connected customer routes, but redundancy gained through other routes would be lost.
  4. One idea is to bring on those other routes at a lower localpref.
  5. Steve will be putting together office hours to discuss if there is interest.
