NTAC Peering & Routing SIG Meeting:

 

  1. Agenda Bash
  2. Update on peering and I2PX
  1. Team in LA replaced the pair of Cisco 8202 routers at Wilshire facility with pair of Cisco NCS routers; replaced for missing feature on the 8202; already working on turning up 100g connections for AWS and Microsoft
  2. Work is slowly progressing on turning up peers in Newark; looking to decommissioning existing pop in the Digital Realities facility

  1. Engineering is ramping up on the hardware refresh; hoping to start evaluating vendors before the end of the year
  2. Working on bundle issue on new NCS in LOSA (Wilshire)

Community peering needs and issues

Who is using Kentik in their network and potential group conversation
  1. Internet2 has been a customer since late last fall

                                                              i.      Most of the current setup is focused on internal use

                                                            ii.      Starting to work on the portal capability (single-signon, etc.); hope to open this to connectors, regionals, campuses, etc.

                                                          iii.      Done a lot of work with adhoc queries; not so much with dashboards

  1. Link Oregon – interested in the SIG/call

                                                              i.      Use it internally similar to Internet2

                                                            ii.      Mostly used the built-in dashboards and adhoc searching

  1. Oregon State University has been playing with our instance through Link Oregon; interested in what others are doing and how it might benefit us further
  2. Dave Diller also uses it and interested
  3. Jeff Bartig will be sending out something to the NTAC and/or related lists to see if others might to join in the discussion.
