NTAC Peering and Routing

Update on peering and I2PX
  1. No updates on peering capacity
  2. Lower than usual usage at the moment, with summer trend being lower than normal
  3. Jeff is concerned that its been a year since we’ve seen any of our historic growth patterns; will be watching the fall closely (expects a return to previous growth patterns)
  4. Bill – Spring higher ed enrollment was down 600K according to one report; we might see a fewer students in Fall
  5. I2 focus has been on NGI
  6. Jeff – Focused on route policy
RPKI – Steve Wallace
  1. I2 had been running a validation service/measuring
  2. Current recommended practice runs counter to this

                                                               i.      Don’t mark routes to prevent disruption in the event of an issue

                                                             ii.      Drop invalids on receipt rather than continue to route them

  1. I2 is considering modifying their practice to match the newer recommendations
  2. They haven’t set a date for when any changes would be implemented
