Here are the notes from today’s meeting:

  1. Agenda Bash
  2. Update on peering and I2PX
  1. Microsoft might be moving forward with augment in Chicago (2x20g to 100g) next week
  2. Phillip Smith at NSRC has agreed to publish routing report for I2 (information to help us better understand what the R&E routing table looks like)
Network Weather Update – Trends and Coming Events:
  1. Q: What effect should the NCAA tournament have on network traffic? A: We expected less impact than normal since many campuses have low populations
Internet2 network update
  1. Security team is working on set of test suites to verify that NGI is operating as expected; will eventually be looking for a partner university to assist in testing
  2. NGI:

                                                               i.      I2 is currently focused on NGI

                                                             ii.      Running 2-week sprints

iii.      Test plans are being developed as the hardware is being deployed

iv.      Plans are to start moving to the shim in late Spring

  1. April is month of testing
  2. Sometime in May will be when it moves into production
  3. The initial idea is that the shim will be used primarily for OESS provisioned services; peering (I2PX, NET+) will be moved later
Any Other Business
  1. IRR consistency reports currently only list problematic prefixes. A new version is planned that will include all prefixes with additional information
  2. ARIN is postponing the turn-down of the unauthenticated IRR to a year from now
Q:  Was ARIN going to disable updates to the database?
A:  We believe that updates to the old the database has already been disabled
Q:  Is it true that the ARIN will require an RSA agreement for resources in the authenticated IRR?
    A:  Yes
  3. Given the need for an RSA for the authenticated IRR, a webinar is being planned concerning the advantages of having an agreement; the intended audience for this webinar is lawyer and C-level (will be recorded)
  4. Multicast WG is meeting next week (March 23rd at 2 PM EDT/11 AM PDT). Please join the mailing if your interested. You can contact David Farmer if you want an invitation to the associated Slack channel.

Let me know if you have corrections, questions or clarifications.

Tony
