2016/10/25 Peering & Routing
WG
1. Agenda bash
2. Update on peering and TR-CPS - I2
- Jeff spent some time
at NANOG. Lots of good content is on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=nanog+68).
- Facebook presentation
on their network edge was a good one.
- Opportunity to get
capacity upgrades moving.
- Google (160G moving
250G over the next month),
- Apple (similar scale
capacity upgrades as Google).
- Planning for next
month to complete some of the other capacity upgrades
- DE-CIX connecting with 2x10G (traffic to move
from Equinix Public to DE-CIX)
- Peering utilization
data is accessible via SNAPP graphs. Some more stats on the
NOC page.
3. Network
Weather update.
- Alerts about known upcoming
events.
- Apple to do software updates
over the next week or so. Possible bump on Apple traffic.
- First pilots to move
connectors off the Chicago area. Additionally some additional
capacity has been added to locations (e.g. Atlanta). Started
with Indiana.
4. RPKI update
- Next project from the Security
group. At this point is about getting the word out. Is there a
website with details? Andrew Gallo has been working on a Google
share.
- Is there a baseline to use for
comparisons at a later time (after implementation). The Security
WG will work on defining a baseline to determine success.
5. Multicast
- Do we continue to support ASM
and full MSDP meshes?
- Want to schedule a sunset
project for ASM in favor of SSM.
- What are people using ASM
for nowadays?
- How to gather that
information? The goal is to try to remove ASM from the
design phase for new networks.
- Next step is to take it to
the next NTAC meeting.
- Should we create a focus
group for the migration from ASM to SSM (similar to the
openflow to MPLS short-lived working group).
