Peering and Routing WG (2016/09/20)
- Update on Peering
. 250G of capacity to be added over the next month
across different peers
. Apple traffic increased to maximum (80% full). For example
Chicago has 40Gbps available. Starting to talk about
upgrading capacity
- Network Weather Update
. Apple release of Sierra is imminent
+ Released the night before (9/19)
+ NOthing like iOS10
- New topic
. The NOC has been fielding tickets relating to peers
announcing aggregate prefixes but not routing to all
of them (e.g. TW Telecom, acquired by Level3, announcing
aggregates even though the path has moved to Level3).
. Looking for options
. How many prefixes (e.g. from TW Telecom)?
. How much bandwidth?
+ ~1 Gbps across all links (TW Telecom)
. Possible solutions (in no particular order):
+ Buy a small amount of transit to remediate
+ De-peer with TW Telecom
+ Continue to work on tickets on a case by case manner
+ add to a deny prefix-list
. bring it to the NTAC for more discussion
- Housekeeping
. Planning to make meeting minutes available to the
mailing list
. Looking at enabling bluejeans and etherpad for the WG
+ José to work with Internet2 staff
