Happy February! Remember to make your Valentine's dinner reservations, if you're into that type of thing.
If you haven't booked your travel for Global Summit, time is nigh! Registration goes up again on 22 Feb. Check out the program, which isn't yet complete but is really filling out. https://meetings.internet2.edu/2020-global-summit/program/#03-30
I trust you've all seen Dave Farmer's email about DNS resiliency within R&E. Personally, I wasn't terribly familiar with the problems he cited - does anyone else need an ELI5 (Explain it Like I'm 5)? The topic has been discussed more in the peering and routing working groups. Is there any other infrastructure that would benefit from improved routing redundancy?
We continue to work on Route Origin Validation reporting, so we should give a hat-tip to SIX for implementing it themselves! They look like they have a lot of interesting tools that they've developed and it must've taken a lot of hard work. Steven Wallace wrote a blog post about our efforts here: https://www.internet2.edu/blogs/detail/17532
I thought this was an interesting discussion on the potential day-to-day technological effect of the coronavirus: https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/ev4n8h/caronavirus_and_its_impact_on_it/
