In late August, Internet2 staff convened a group of regional network security professionals to review a set of requirements for a cloud-based DDoS mitigation service. Based on discussions with that group, a set of requirements was created and that set of requirements was turned into a Request For Proposals (RFP) for a cloud-based service for mitigating volumetric DDoS attacks. In the RFP, Internet2 Network Services is seeking proposals for developing volumetric DDoS attack countermeasures that can work to protect both the network infrastructure of the Internet2 ecosystem and also, in conjunction with regional networks and member campuses, provide remedial services when needed. That RFP has been issued and responses are due on November 7, 2016.

We will update you as the proposals are reviewed and a service is chosen. Please let me know if you have any questions.
