Me again - sorry! While studying the results I'd copied, I noticed NDT  
reported it had managed to find the _old_ Java plugin 1.6.0_10-b33, instead  
of the newly installed 1.6.0_25-b06! Apparently if the Java app requests  
the new version it runs, but otherwise Firefox defaults to using the old  
version. When I hid the old version so it was forced to use the new one, I  
could no longer copy results.

So my previous conclusion was exactly wrong - the problem _is_ related to  
the Java version!
