Call for Session Proposals Open Now Through 10/27!

Submit your ideas on innovative work and technologies that are accelerating discoveries in research and education today and into the future.

2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of Internet2 and the 2016 Global Summit is an opportune time to showcase the Internet2 community’s rich history and bright future—focused on the transformation of research and education in the next 20 years and beyond.

The higher education community has a long-standing history of pioneering disruptive and breakthrough technologies in pursuit of scientific research and discoveries for the next generation of teaching and learning. Submit your ideas by October 27 in one of five track sessions.

Track Session Topics include:

  • Applied Research, Scholarship and Applications
Successful submissions will highlight current and future innovative global and national projects in the realms of science, humanities, and the growing field of Internet of Things in support of research and education (R&E).
  • Innovations in Advanced Networking and Services
Submissions should highlight innovative technologies and capabilities in advanced networking, especially as they contribute to building a cohesive platform for collaboration for the R&E community.  This includes network infrastructure developments, Advanced Layer 2 Services, advancements in Network Virtualization, and innovative network diagnostic tools.

  • Cloud-Based Research, Education and Service Missions
Presentations should focus on projects, initiatives, and best practices related to R&E cloud solutions and applications, especially as they support community member and partner efforts to realize their research, education, clinical and service goals.

  • Cyber Security and Trust and Identity in Education and Research
Successful submissions will focus on advances within the TIER initiative, standards, policy and service offerings that support the future trust and federated identity services needs for campus, individual, and service providers in a cloud services-driven environment. Other successful submissions could include a focus on network and system security topics including strategies and policies for major security incidents, malware-related challenges, cryptography, security of cloud-based services and the unique challenges of network security at very high speeds.

  • Healthcare and Life Sciences
Presentations in this track should focus on integration and collaboration in science, engineering, medicine and technology to solve problems for institutions and their medical research needs. Successful submissions will highlight the work of scientific researchers across campuses that are seeking to improve human and animal health discoveries and how genomics, clinical research and clinical care are a growing big data and analytics challenge the R&E community is leading.
