Award acknowledges Morgan's commitment to the research and education community

Arlington, VA—April 24, 2012—R.L. "Bob" Morgan, an identity and access
management architect at the University of Washington, was honored today with
the Internet2 President's Leadership Award. The award recognizes individuals
from Internet2's membership for their exemplary service for the benefit of
the national and global research and education community. The award was
presented to him before nearly 800 attendees at the Spring 2012 Internet2
Member Meeting.

"Throughout his career, Bob has been a consummate professional with a
steadfast commitment to strengthening network services among the higher
education and technology community," said Dave Lambert, chief executive
officer and president of Internet2. "As we continue to reshape and discover
new services on behalf of the Internet2 and its partners, we will continue to
draw upon Bob's expertise and his example in the important work we do as we
move our mission forward."

"Much of the success of the Internet2 middleware work is due to it leveraging
the remarkable expertise of the people in the community," said Ken
Klingenstein, director of the Internet2 Middleware and Security Initiative.
"Among those smart people have been a few who have added wisdom to the mix.
And among those precious few wise folks, there has been one who provides the
light to it all. That one person is R.L. 'Bob' Morgan."

Nominees are selected by the Internet2 executive leadership team based on the
their participation in strategic programs across all areas of the Internet2
network and their demonstrated "above and beyond" leadership that
substantially supports the mission of Internet2 and the community.

For more than 20 years, Morgan has designed and deployed advanced identity
management systems in support of higher education and research on local,
national and international levels. Prior to joining the University of
Washington in 1999, he held a similar position at Stanford University. Since
its inception in 1999, Bob has served as chair of the Middleware Architecture
Council for Education, a U.S.-based international group of identity
management architects providing guidance for the Internet2 Middleware
Initiative.
