The latest version of the Signet Privilege Management System, v1.3.0, was released on 17-July-2008. A component of campus middleware infrastructure that provides centralized management of user privileges across a range of applications, Signet enables consistent application of policy and business access rules across managed services and places the control of a resource in the hands of its steward. This new version includes several significant improvements, including: - XML import/export capability - both API and command-line tool - Expanded API in Signet's persistence layer (database API) - Architectural cleanup and refinements - Increased visibility of several APIs - Removed unused / unnecessary APIs - Simplified the object model - Improved persistence layer design - Now using C3PO DB connection pooling (like Grouper) - Improved documentation Detailed release notes are included on the software download page.
