Dear Colleagues,
Over the past few years, the need for consistent middleware has grown and Internet2's activities in this important arena have increased accordingly. In this message, we would like to highlight some of the many sessions related to middleware that you will find at our upcoming Fall 2003 Internet2 Member Meeting in Indianapolis, to be held October 13-16. We would appreciate you forwarding this message as broadly as you wish.
As usual, our meeting will feature a track on Middleware. In addition, you will find middleware-related sessions embedded in several of the other tracks, as well as Working Group (WG) and Project Team meetings and Birds of a Feather sessions. The Middleware Working Groups also will be well represented at the two lunchtime events: Lunchapalooza and WG Poster Sessions.
Middleware sessions begin on Monday, October 13, with a tutorial at 8:15 am on "Deploying a Collaboration Infrastructure Across State and Higher Education Federations", followed at 1 pm by a related tutorial on "Using Shibboleth to Support Credential Exchange". Other middleware-related sessions on Monday include:
- the MACE-Instant Messaging WG at 8:15 am
- the MACE-CourseID Project at 10 am
- the MACE-DIR Groups Project at 2 pm
- a Middleware Diagnostics Birds of a Feather (BoF) session at 3:30 pm
- the VidMid-Videoconferencing WG at 4:30 pm
- the Shibboleth WG at 8 am
- the VidMid-Video on Demand WG at 8:15 am
- the PKI WG at 5:45 pm
- the Directories WG at 5:45 pm
The Middleware Track continues on Wednesday with the following sessions:
- NSF Middleware Initiative - Building for the Future, 8:45 am
- Shibboleth Case Studies, 10:30 am
- Shibboleth and Federations, 1:15 pm
- Authorization and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), 3 pm
- Enabling Collaborative Applications with Middleware, 4:30 pm
Two more middleware sessions are scheduled for Thursday, October 16: a session in the Middleware Track on "Advanced Directory Services and Applications" at 8:45 am and a session at the same time in the Advanced Applications Track on "Technical and Policy Issues in Identity Management and WebISO".
Since there is no longer a limit to the number of people who can attend an Internet2 Member Meeting from each member organization, this is an excellent opportunity to bring others who are interested, but have not been able to attend previously, so feel free to forward this message broadly. We look forward to seeing you in Indianapolis!
