Further expansion to include Canada and six South American countries will
follow in the coming months. A number of demonstrations and activities
relating to orthopedic surgery are also in the planning stages, including a
Forum on the Applications of Telemedicine, Simulation, Imaging and Robotics
to Orthopedic Surgery (planned for August in Los Angeles) and a live virtual
hand surgery demonstration for the SICOT/SIROT (the International Society of
Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology) meeting in Cairo in September. For more

peer with Abilene, Ca*net, ESnet, GEANT and other networks.

SINET connects numerous Japanese universities and research centers together
at speeds ranging from 30mbps - 1gbps. SuperSINET - launched in 2002 -
provides a subset of those institutions a 10gbps backbone throughout Japan.
